It’s not every day that a customer walks in with a requirement for a 550-ton girder bridge. Designing and manufacturing such a structure is an immense task, typically taking between eight to ten months to complete.

Girder bridges are essential for transporting super ODC (over-dimensional cargo) or highly concentrated loads that cannot be carried on hydraulic modular trailers. Certain road conditions or restrictions may necessitate the use of a girder bridge to safely transport such cargo. As of 2023, there are only seven to eight operational girder bridges across India.

When our customer approached us with this challenge, the Tratec team immediately set to work, determined to deliver a solution. Our design and manufacturing teams worked tirelessly to meet the project’s tight deadline. In just four months, we successfully designed, fabricated, machined, and completed a 180-ton metal structure.

The girder bridge, comprising eight modular assemblies, provided the customer with the flexibility needed to transport the ODC cargo over bridges and navigate it beneath overhead structures. The hydraulic system allowed easy adjustments, ensuring smooth operations. Thanks to the relentless efforts of the Tratec BHIM team, the 500+ ton load was delivered safely and on time.
