India's First Four Point Lifting System - 250 Tons

As India’s development story continues, metro lines are being constructed in everycity. In May 2020, one of our key customers approached us with a peculiar problem of unloading of Metro coaches from Hydraulic modular trailers.

These coaches can be as long as 14 meters and the weight as much as 70 tons. Furthermore, the weight of the coaches is unevenly distributed. Hence, finding a CG (Center of Gravity)  is more on the difficult side. Traditionally, these coaches were unloaded using two 60 ton Hydra cranes. The problem with this was the excessive space requirement and the danger of any accident due to lack of coordination between the two crane operators. The equipment is simply too expensive to take such risks. In response to our customer request, our design team came us with the solution to unload the Metro coach using Hydraulic Lifting system.

What followed was Indian’s First Four Point Lifting System with rated capacity of 250 tons. We designed an hydraulically operating lifting system to load and unload the metro coaches with safety and smoothness. The Four Point Lift would grab the metro coach and lift it by a few feet thus allowing the Hydraulic trailer to pass through, once the trailer has passed the system would lower down and keep the coach on the ground or tracks.

The system has been successfully running for past three years and subsequently another such system has also been manufactured for the same client. Thanks to the efforts of tratec Design and manufacturing team , Bombardier metro coaches in india can safely be loaded and unloaded.
